Evening all,
This is kind of related to my very first post, about the small choices we have every day, that fill up the big picture.
I have been working at TKMaxx now for two years. Thats right, Year S , as in plural. (scary thought huh?)
That was just supposed to be a job while i was at 6th form.
I guess i'm telling you guys this because i wondered where i would have been now if i decided to work at the other place that offered me a job. Comet.
Comet is a gadget and electronics shop. Really, i should have worked there... I know something about what we'd be selling and i could use the discount even more than i use my Maxx one. But i decided to do something random. I decided to go and work for TKMaxx, because i didnt know what it was! I had never been into one before, and i had no idea what they sold. Not even the interview was specific.
While i was at Tkmaxx, i was also at school, doing chemistry, biology, media studies and general studies. Now i totally flunked my first year, and i put it down to a few things.
1. Irish joe. I met irish joe while i was at 6th form and we became like best friends very quickly. He had a great sense of humour and he seemed to enjoy all the same kinda stuff that i did. T'was great. But we spent so much time messing around, that we never got any work done. We set up a skatepark in the common room, we stole from the vending machines (mental note: tell the current guys HOW to steal from the machines) and we took trips to the shops to buy pepsi and kindereggs. Oh and a curry a few times! :)
but we never did work (or homework)
2. We discovered drinking. The first year of 6th form was the time we all experimented with different pubs and bars, trying to get served. Me and joe quickly found the Fleece. A great pub that didnt id us, 'cause they knew us!
But drinking took up a lot of money, and soo
3. I worked more at TKMaxx. Whenever any overtime was available, i'd work it to get some money. (also to suck up to the big bosses, make sure i got a job after my christmas temp contract ended)
I remember one week i was at school from 8-4, and working every night from 5-9. That left no time for homework or studying.
Looking back, i think that prehaps things might have been different if i had gone to college, or worked at comet. Less hours?
now i'm not trying to say that i blame all my failures at school on those things above. They contributed sure, but i know it all falls down on me.
Either way, i think i have a good life now. I may still go to college or uni, who knows. For now, i'm happy with the way the next two years of my life looks. After that, who knows.
(I have never known what my life will be doing, and i know that some people will see that as mad, but i dont mind really.)
well..... random post huh? Ah well. Have a fun week kids.
